Opportunity Missed

It is always better to help someone immediately before it is too late.

Walking through the market today,
I heard a scuffled cry,
The cry of a little beggar boy,
With thirst whose mouth was dry.

On one hand my heart was telling me,
To help this boy in some way,
But my mind poisoned by selfishness,
From this deed lead me astray.

As I walked along I felt eaten up,
By the feeling they call as guilt,
My head sank low all out of shame,
Like flowers that begin to wilt.

Deciding that I should do something,
To see to the boy's well being,
I ran to the where the boy had been,
But Alas! he was nowhere seen.
